Channa Tikki Chat

Yesterday it was raining in Bangalore, and my tongue craved for some yummy chaat..and here is what I made : hot and spicy tikkis topped with tangy chutney and fresh yoghurt-a mouth watering chaat recipe.. 

Ingredients :
For making tikkis :

  • Kabuli channa- boiled and coarsely mashed - 1 cup
  • 2 medium sized potatoes boiled and mashed
  • 2 tsps chaat masala
  • 1 tsp chilly powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying
For the coriander chutney:
  • 1/2 cup coriander leaves
  • 1/2 cup dates syrup ( soak dates in warm water for half an hour and grind to make a syrupy paste)
  • 2 tsps chilly powder
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tsps chaat masala
For garnishing :
  • Black salt
  • Coriander leaves finely chopped
  • Onions finely chopped
  • Fresh yoghurt
Method :
  • Mix the mashed channa and potatoes in a bowl.
  • Add chaat masala,salt and chilly powder and mix well.
  • Make patties out of this mixture and deep fry in oil to make the tikkis.
  • For the coriander chutney, grind the coriander leaves, dates syrup, chilly powder, chaat masala and salt.
  • Arrange the tikkis on a plate, top with fresh yoghurt, chutney, coriander leaves, finely chopped onions.
  • Sprinkle a pinch of black salt.
  • Dive in!
