Peas Pulao

Preparation time: 30 minutes                  Serves 2

  • 1 Cup rice
  • 1 Cup green peas
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 inch ginger
  • 1 pod garlic
  • 1 spoon fennel (saunf)
  • 1/2 spoon jeera
  • 2 green chillies
  • 1/2 spoon cardomom seeds
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Salt to taste
For Garnishing:
  • Cashew pieces
  • Raisins
  • Coriander leaves
  • 3 spoons ghee

How to make:
  • Boil the rice with 2 cups of water, and set aside.
  • Make a fine paste out of ginger, green chillies, garlic, fennel, cardomom, and jeera, by adding a little bit of water.
  • Steam the peas for about 10 minutes, and make a paste by blending it with some salt.
  • Now take a pan, heat some ghee in it, fry the chopped onions in it for around a minute.
  • Now add the paste made in step 2, and saute well.
  • Add the blended peas, mix well, and then add milk and let it boil for around half a minute.
  • Now add the rice and mix properly.
  • Top with some coriander leaves, and cashew nuts & raisins fried in ghee.
This pulao goes well with any raita.
